Knives Don’t Have Your Back and is a frequent collaborator in musical collective Broken Social Scene. Still, her work in Metric with band mates James Shaw, Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott Key has arguably brought her the most success. The band pens edgy dance-rock tunes in the same vein as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Haines controls the stage much as Debbie Harry did in Blondie—when the show starts, all eyes are on her. Metric has released four records over its decade-plus lifespan, and its most recent, was forged in live environments—the band performed their new songs to audiences in order to feel out what changes needed to be made. Now, Metric is touring in support of the fully-fleshed tunes, catchy gems to add to a cache of great music.
